Ranking the NFL's Top-10 WR trios: How the Titans stack up against the rest of the league after the Tyler Boyd signing
Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Tennessee Titans are in uncharted waters after the team signed wide receiver Tyler Boyd on Tuesday. A franchise with decades of documented disappointment at the position all of the sudden has one of the best wide receiver trios in the NFL.

General manager Ran Carthon deserves a ton of credit for what he has been able to build in such a short time. Tennessee inked DeAndre Hopkins last offseason and have since added Calvin Ridley and Boyd in free agency this spring.

There is no doubt that this is the best trio of wideouts the Titans will deploy since moving to Tennessee, but where does it stack up in comparison with the rest of the NFL?

Ranking the NFL's Top-10 Wide Receiver Trios

1.  Houston Texans - Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, Tank Dell

Although Diggs regressed in 2023, Collins and Dell each possess the ability to take over a game at any given moment. Collins, 25, and Dell, 24, are two of the league's brightest rising stars which gives the Texans a legitimate shot at three 1,000-yard receivers in 2024.

2. Miami Dolphins - Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Odell Beckham Jr.

Hill and Waddle are without question the best receiver tandem in football at the moment. Beckham, 31, is a shell of himself, but with Hill and Waddle out wide the No. 3 option in this high-flying passing attack is really just for show.

3. Chicago Bears - D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze

The Bears are giving rookie quarterback Caleb Williams every tool he needs in order to succeed. Moore and Allen each racked up over 1,200 receiving yards in 2023, so if Odunze can hit the ground running the Bears could be vying for the No. 1 spot by season's end.

4. Seattle Seahawks - DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba

This was a tough one because Seattle has the most well-rounded trio in the league. Metcalf finished 18th in receiving yards in 2023 while Lockett is set to turn 32 this season. Look for Smith-Njigba to overtake Lockett as WR2 in the 2024 campaign.

5. Philadelphia Eagles - A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, Devante Parker

Brown's 1,456 receiving yards ranked fifth in the NFL last year while Smith put together his second 1,000-yard season in as many years. Parker has to be pleased to go from one of the league's most anemic passing offenses in New England to now playing with Jalen Hurts in Philly.

6. San Francisco 49ers - Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Ricky Pearsall

Aiyuk proved he could be a No. 1 option with 1,342 receiving yards (7th) in 2023. Samuel's numbers weren't as gaudy but his versatility still commands respect. Pearsall bring an element of speed that will be problematic for opposing secondaries.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Trey Palmer

Palmer leaves a bit to be desired at WR3, but Evans and Godwin have eclipsed the 1,000-yard benchmark in each of their last three seasons. Not only has Evans tallied at least 1,000 yards in every season in his 10-year career, but he led the NFL with 13 touchdowns in 2023.

8. Tennessee Titans - DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd

I went back and forth between Tennessee and Minnesota, but the Titans have the edge in depth. Hopkins and Ridley have a legitimate shot to compile 1,000 receiving yards apiece while Boyd has tallied at least 667 yards in each of his last five seasons.

9. Minnesota Vikings - Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Brandon Powell

Addison made a major splash in his rookie season with 911 receiving yards and a whopping 10 touchdowns. Jefferson remains the best wideout in football, but Powell has never posted a season with more than 324 receiving yards.

10. Cincinnati Bengals - Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Trenton Irwin Jr.

Tee Higgins' inconsistency in 2023 combined with the departure of Tyler Boyd knocks the Bengals' trio down a few pegs. With Higgins unhappy in his current situation and Irwin's first season in a significant role I'm not overly bullish on this group, even with a healthy Joe Burrow in 2024.
