Christopher Bell ended up with a P2 finish on the afternoon at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday, but the story surrounding his name afterwards involved an altercation with Kyle Busch.

The Richard Childress Racing veteran, and Bell’s former teammate, got spun around by the No. 20 wheelman in Turn 1, and it sank Busch’s chances of a potential top-5 finish. Busch instead would bring his Chevy home in P9 at the end of the race, while Bell ended up on the podium.

Words were exchanged between Busch and Bell, with the two-time NASCAR champion doing much of the talking. Check out the video below, where the No. 8 wheelman schooled Bell on just what he thought the Joe Gibbs Racing driver did wrong on the afternoon.

Afterwards, Bell joined NASCAR’s Alex Weaver to explain his stance on Busch’s words, and where the two drivers will go from here.

“Kyle was heated. That was heated KB for sure,” Bell said, regarding the incident with Busch. “You know, driving for him those years, I’ve seen it before. But I think that might be the first time that he’s ever been heated directly at me.

“So obviously, I didn’t have any intention to spin them out. So I’ll be reaching out to him, and hopefully he’ll talk to me later this week.”

Alas, that checks out with Bell’s earlier interview on the afternoon following the race, where he spoke with FOX’s Bob Pockrass, owning up to a separate incident with Kyle Larson, but not taking responsibility for spinning Busch out.

“I just don’t know — [Kyle] Larson, I made a mistake, right. And I got into the back of him and spun him out,” Bell said. “But KB, he opened his entry up and then tried to crossover and whenever — I was running my line, so had I known he was going to come across the racetrack, I would have braked a little bit.

“But I never expected him to do that. So, I don’t know. I haven’t seen a replay either so, need to see a replay.”

Of course, there’s two sides to every story, but it doesn’t seem as if Christopher Bell or Kyle Busch believe they’re at fault for colliding during Sunday’s race at COTA. Busch obviously got the worst of it, but we’ll see if there’s any retaliation moving forward.

One thing is for sure, there won’t be much love between these two former Toyota teammates for at least the next couple of weeks.
